10 Items for your next summer bbq

Sunshine, potlucks and pool days are coming up! It's time to start planning for summer BBQ's and picnics!

The cookouts we have around here are pretty casual, so I usually go for a dress or romper that's easy to throw on, allows for playtime with the kiddos, but still looks good. Bonus points if it doubles as a swimsuit cover-up. I know that's asking a lot, but it is possible to find such an outfit! Here are a few things, including a dress that hits all the marks, that I found online and  would be great for any summertime BBQ.

1. lizzie fortunato necklace $225; 2.  charlotte street salad bowl with wooden servers $125; 3.  kleen kanteen insulated growler $69.95; 4. coppertone clearly sheer spf 50 $6.99; 5. filofax domino soft organizer $38; 6. lemon cooler bag $32; 7.  merry cheese crisps $6-$18; 8.   knot sisters midi dress $97; 9.  loeffler randall kiki flat slide $350; 10. round cotton beach towel $38.98
Keeping the dress neutral allows you to dress it up or down, depending on the occasion. The necklace and sandal are both casual thanks to the rope accents and the flat sole, but the gold metal kicks them up a notch.

I just ordered this black and white beach towel (it comes in other colors too!) and plan to use it at the beach this year. The reviews said it's pretty thin but absorbent so we'll give it a go. I like the idea of it drying quickly.

You're going to need somewhere to write down all those get-togethers! The refillable planner in the center is by Filofax. I've been using them for years and absolutely love their planners! They're great quality and you can invest around $30 for the lower end or as much as $1,000 or more for their higher end leather ones. Some of the planners have become collector's items and Filofax has a bit of a cult following. You can dive as deep into the world of Filofax as you want. Just do a search on YouTube for the planner you're interested in and try not to fall down the rabbit hole watching how other people use their planners. I'm pretty simple with mine but I do sometimes decorate mine with washi tape and stickers, etc. I've tried four different sizes including Personal, Compact, Pocket, and A5 - I find the Personal size is easiest to throw in my bag while giving me enough room to write.

How cute is this lemon tote? Perfect for carrying snacks for the kids (or yourself!) or a few drinks for a picnic. And for those of you who like craft beer, Kleen Kanteen makes an insulated beer growler that's perfect for potlucks and will take you right into tailgating in the fall.

I haven't tried this sunscreen yet, but it comes highly recommended by my sister-in-law who, like me, hates greasy sunscreen. I cannot wait to give it a try! I don't mind a greasier formula at the pool, but when out and about, I'd prefer to stay dry. I think even the kids will dread applying sunscreen less if it doesn't feel so "yucky."

I hope you enjoyed my Summer BBQ picks! Let me know if you've tried any of these products or if there are some you've found works even better! I'll let you know how I like the beach towel over on instagram once it comes in. ;) Give me a follow over there @hboutofthestudio!
